Why rush home after the Beaks & Barrels event?

Rutherglen and its surrounding region offer so much to fill out a relaxing, birds, nature- and wine-inflected weekend. The area rewards visitors with heritage streetscapes, riverside trails, cellar doors, and native bushland to explore.

Consider a bike ride or walk through part of the Rutherglen Loops, a 48 km network of trails linking the town, Wahgunyah, Lake Moodemere, and nearby vineyards.

You could also follow part of the Murray to the Mountains Rail Trail that connects Rutherglen to Wahgunyah for a scenic riding or walking route.

Birders might want to visit nearby reserves like the Lower Ovens Wildlife Reserve or explore the banks of the Ovens and Murray Rivers for riparian habitats.

Rutherglen and surrounding area is a gem of a visit

Fancy some more wine tasting? A self-guided cellar door tour is a must: stop in at stalwarts like Stanton & Killeen, Campbells Wines, All Saints Estate, or De Bortoli’s Tuileries restaurant as part of your itinerary.

You are spoilt for choice, from Arts, Culture, Wine, Food and Bird-watching.  See you there!
