Sink Into Your Environment
A direct experience with nature has been shown to generate cognitive, affective, and psycho-physiological benefits following stress and attention fatigue.
Birding doesn't always have to be about finding your next 'Lifer' (although, it does bring great joy and satisfaction!), but it's about stepping out of the 'everyday' and stepping into another world.
Our connection with nature and how it assists our ability to focus and restore our mental state has been studied for many years. Bird watching encourages mindfulness, which is the practice of being present and fully engaged in the current moment. Focusing on the sights, sounds, and movements of birds promotes a state of mental clarity and calm.
For those of us who take part in a bit of Birding, we know too well the goodness it brings to our state of mind and our well-being.
