Aussie Bird Count 2024
Every year around the world, people who care about the planet take a moment to count birds. From October 14th-20th, the annual Aussie Bird Count takes place, an event that’s been running for about ten years now and is such a brilliant way to get all of us involved in nature.
Watchful eyes across Australia will spend 20 minutes simply counting birds in their area to help build a national snapshot of our bird populations. Last year, there were more than 60,000 participants who collectively tallied a remarkable 3,608,545 birds.
This data is also super important because it helps track how different species are faring, which in turn gives insight into the health of our environment.
Get involved, or at the very least, use it as a reason to take a moment in slowing down and really notice the world around you. Not only is it good for you but it’s also a simple way to contribute to the planet’s well-being from your own backyard!
